Interior design fees vary considerably depending on the scope of a project, the services required, and the studio you work with. At Design Innovations, we structure fees differently for different engagements: a consultation fee for initial discussions, a design fee for full project design, and a project management fee where we oversee installation and contractors. We discuss all of this transparently at the start of every project. There are no surprises.

A turnkey service covers everything from initial concept through to the final installation. That includes space planning, material and furniture selection, procurement, contractor briefing, site management, and styling. You make the decisions that shape the design; we manage every stage of bringing it to life.

Timelines depend entirely on scope. A single-room project, such as a bedroom or lounge, typically runs between six and twelve weeks from design sign-off to completion. Full residential projects generally take four to nine months, with larger or more complex projects taking longer. We provide a detailed programme at the start of every engagement so you know exactly what to expect and when.

Yes. Every project begins with a design consultation. This is an opportunity to discuss your space, your brief, and your budget in detail. It also gives us both the chance to assess whether we are the right fit for each other. The consultation is charged at a set fee, which we confirm before scheduling.

3D visualisation produces photorealistic renders of your proposed interior before anything is built or purchased. It allows you to see exactly how the space will look, including furniture placement, materials, and lighting, so that every decision is made with full visual information. For projects of any meaningful complexity, we strongly recommend it. It removes ambiguity and prevents costly changes once work has begun.

We design bespoke furniture and commission it through our network of trusted craftspeople and manufacturers. Every custom piece is drawn to specification and produced to our quality standard. We do not operate a manufacturing facility ourselves, but we oversee production closely on every custom commission.

Yes. While our studio is based in Pretoria and most of our work is in Gauteng, we take on projects across South Africa where the scope and nature of the project makes sense. Speak to us about your location and we will give you an honest assessment of how we can best serve the project.

Transparently. We ask for an honest budget at the start of every project and design within it. Our role is to make that budget work as hard as possible, not to encourage unnecessary spending. Where we identify a tension between what is possible and what the budget allows, we discuss it plainly and help you make an informed decision.

Yes. Interior styling is available as a standalone service for spaces that are structurally complete but need the finishing layer. This is common with clients who have recently moved into a new home or completed a renovation and want professional help with accessories, soft furnishings, artwork, and the final details that bring a room together.

The terms are often used interchangeably, but they are not identical. An interior designer typically works on the structural and spatial dimensions of a project: layout, built-in elements, lighting design, and the technical specifications that inform construction. An interior decorator focuses on the aesthetic layer: finishes, furnishings, and accessories. At Design Innovations, we work across both.

On full-service and turnkey projects, yes. We brief and coordinate all contractors, manage the on-site programme, and take responsibility for quality control. You deal with us; we deal with everyone else.
